May 31st at the cheboygan operahouse

One Night Only an Intimate Acoustic Concert

Great Big Family Productions is proud to present An Acoustic Evening with Sidewalk Prophets.

Join Sidewalk Prophets for an intimate evening of music, stories, and hope. With a career spanning five major label releases — These Simple Truths (2009), Live Like That (2012), Something Different (2015), The Things That Got Us Here (2020), and Looking Up (2025) — along with the beloved holiday album Merry Christmas To You (2013), the Dove Award winning band has become a mainstay in Christian music. Their catalog includes Gold certified hits such as “The Words I Would Say,” “You Love Me Anyway,” and “Live Like That.”

Since  forming at Indiana’s Anderson University, Sidewalk Prophets have earned  five number one songs, nine Top 5 radio singles, and more than 240  million on demand streams. They have shared their hearts and music with  over 2.5 million fans, performed historic shows at the Ryman Auditorium  and the Grand Ole Opry, and continue to inspire listeners through their  “Great Big Family” of fans.

The Acoustic Evening tour brings it  all back to the heart of their music: real songs, real stories, and real  connection. Experience an evening that celebrates faith, friendship,  and the moments that move us, as Sidewalk Prophets share their songs in  an intimate and unforgettable setting.

About Us

Traditional Worship at 10:30 am. Adult Sunday School at 9:30 am.
Come as you are!   Church of the Straits is a federated church. We are a single congregation, but  both Global Methodist and ECO Presbyterian. Church of the Straits is the only mainline Protestant church in Mackinaw City.

While we are one single congregation, we support and are supported by both The Global Methodist Church and the ECO Presbyterian Church.   We are a body of people committed to Christian unity under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our congregation is made up of people from all different denominations. And because Mackinaw City is a diverse town, we're made up of people from all different backgrounds.

Our Pastor

Pastor David Wallis

David grew up in Rudyard, Michigan, about 30 miles north of the Mackinac Bridge, where he managed the family farm for about 5 years. During this time David sensed God’s call to pastoral ministry, after which he completed his college education and began seminary. David was graduated from Taylor University in 1991 with a BA in Biblical studies. He received a Master of Divinity in 1995 from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, outside of Chicago, IL. In 1997, David was ordained an Elder in the Detroit Annual Conference.

Prior to being appointed to the Church of the Straits in 2006, David’s pastorates included Pleasant Grove UMC in Indiana, and Grace and Faithorn UMC’s, both in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

David is married to Lisa. They have three grown and married children and 5 grandchildren.
